The Amazing surfing Experience

Wave Surfing....

The southern region of Sri Lanka, including Mirissa, Weligama, Midigama, and Ahangama, is currently a popular surfing destination. The area boasts perfect weather, warm water, affordable food, and a plethora of surf spots that attract many tourists each year.

Weligama is known for its large beach break, where most surf schools and board rental shops are located. Beginners will have plenty of opportunities to learn here, but it can get crowded. For those looking for a reef break experience, Mirissa and Ahangama are great options and offer a more traditional Sri Lankan atmosphere.

Despite the small and unpredictable surf conditions from November to March, there are still chances to catch some waves with the cross-offshore winds.

The southern region offers a variety of accommodations, restaurants, surf schools, and shops. It is more developed and busier than Arugam Bay.

The Amazing Swimming with the Turtles Experience

Swimming with the Turtles....

If you’re in Sri Lanka and looking to swim with sea turtles, head over to Mirissa or Wijaya Beach and ask one of the tuk-tuk drivers. They know the best spots and can take you to the ‘Coral Dive Centre’ (you’ll recognize it by the fins and snorkels outside) to gear up and hop on the boat.

You won’t have to go far – you can still see the shore while swimming. Once you know where it is, you could even do the trip on your own (we’re planning on doing that soon with our own snorkels). The whole experience, including a tuk-tuk ride from The Sunsan Studio in Ahangama to Mirissa, snorkel gear, boat ride, and return tuk-tuk, only costs €65 for three adults and three children.

Swimming with sea turtles in Sri Lanka is not only amazing but also super affordable.

The Amazing Whale Watching Experience

Whale watching....

Mirissa is one of the best places in the world for whale watching (Marissa approx. 20 km from Sunsan Studio), especially for the most famous largest marine mammal “Blue Whales”. Actually it takes only six to nine nautical miles from Mirissa harbor to reach whale habitats. The “Whale Watching Club” in Marissa is operating whale watching tours for last seven years and though our experience.

The whale watching tours start from Mirissa harbor and most of the time whales can be seen in very close to the Mirissa coast. Some days it takes several hours as they swim away for food in deep sea. During your journey to the Blue whales you can see several other whale species, dolphins and other marine life also.

Killer whales, Sperm whales and Bride whales are the different kind’s whales you can see too. Spinner dolphins, Bottled nosed dolphins and Riso dolphins are the various dolphin types. Also Green back turtle, Whale shark, Flying fish and Tuna fish are other marine species can be seen in some days. Please feel free to ask us to book your tour to Mirissa Harbour.

The Amazing diving Experience

Diving....

The 2-kilometre-long beach between Weligama and Mirissa makes for an excellent location for diving. The shallow coral reefs house a variety of marine life that makes for a great scuba diving experience. The diving centre at Weligama offers divers PADI certification, which means tourists need no prior experience before scuba diving here. Of the diving locations across Weligama, Yala Rock houses a variety of fish in its small caves, the shallow Mirissa Point is ideal for beginners, and Prince Heinrich Patch is great for spotting rayfish and parrot fish.

The Amazing beach Experience
